A perfect pencil encased in wooden and silver box with four extra pencil, magnum brown colored, made in Germany, silver cap and clip, logo engraved on the cap. Faber-Castell’s earliest roots date to 1761, making it one of the oldest brand names associated with writing implements, but its hyphenated moniker came about much later. While cabinetmaker Kaspar Faber lent his name to the Germany-based manufacturing company near Nuremberg in the mid-19th century, it was Baron Lothar von Faber who transformed the company into a major manufacturer of wood-cased pencils and later a wide assortment of writing, drawing and coloring instruments. Today, Faber-Castell is one of the few companies that still places much emphasis on its wood-cased pencils, in addition to its lovely array of pens, limited editions and more. The company is also all about sustainability. According to Faber-Castell, It is estimated that about 20,000 million black-lead and color pencils for all kinds of writing and drawing requirements are produced all over the world every year from various kinds of wood, ca. 50 of them in China. The European manufacturers produce about 2,000 million a year. Company literatures goes on to explain, In order to be independent of timber suppliers and at the same time to be able to keep up with the continually growing demand, Faber-Castell initiated a pioneering plantation project in Brazil nearly three decades ago. Recently, Faber-Castell started another plantation project in Colombia, which combines ecological and social objectives.
