Description:
The Olympia Japan DL2000A is a scamera designed to look impressive in magazines or on late night television, and to be sold by mail order for US 60-70 on the principle that there s a sucker born every minute
There were at least three variations of this camera (all illustrated in the instructions) the second variant is the Yoshiba with two buttons in front of the trigger, and the third has a small LCD screen. They were often sold as a kit in a brightly coloured box with extravagant claims, a carry bag or plastic camera case, a lens hood, a lens cap, a tripod ( ) and a large and very ostentatious flash.
The wheel marked Digital on the left hand side (of the photo) engages the film rewind motor. It is unlikely that the wind mechanism could handle a 36 exposure film because the film plane is curved.
All three variants have two strange features A reflex viewfinder (laterally reversed), and a lens barrel that moves backwards and forwards as the aperture is changed. (Of course the lens which is probably meniscus, does not move.) They exist under several names including Canomatic which is generally believed to be a brand used by the New Taiwan Photographic Corporation (Ouyama)
