This is a handmade Nightingale , sculpted by Khalil Alhashimi, made of marble on a marble stand that measures approximately around 14 x 20 cm.

The bird symbolizes all birds – a symbol of freedom within the boundaries of the journey where the inside turns into outside … outside turns into inside forming a debate between stone and bronze to start the journey of meaning within our nebula. The meaning re transforms to create a space where the eye of the viewer moves to see what he does not know … to see what he knows as he never knew it. This raises an eternal question Does the bird represents the sky or is the sky merely the birds horizon.

The Bahraini sculptor, educated in the former Soviet Union, is one of the Arab worlds most prolific sculptors, working on bronze and stone, deeply influenced by the culture of the Ancient Near East, working often on human figures and animals, combining the reverence towards pre-historic art with contemporary shapes and smooth, almost minimal, modernist surfaces.

His sculptures are defined by elegance and restraint that honors Russian academics infused with contemporary ideas and aesthetic impact. His work is inspired by reflective thoughts bearing traces of his territory and heritage in wood, marble, and metal. His recent works are cast in bronze and are deceivingly modest. These sculptures are anything but “metal” and the iridescence of the surface creates a unique voice within that shouts resilience, regal, and celebratory.
