Description:
A beautiful and Rare Vintage Bronze Set of 2. This is a truly wonderful set of bronze okimono figurines, Kneeling Figures a Samurai warrior, with gorgeous details and patina. In great vintage condition. The sculpture Dimension (height) x 27 cm (length) x 16 cm (Depth) x 28 cm. Seated in the formal Seiza sitting posture, both figurines exude an air of nobility and tranquility at the same time. The male Samurai figurine is quite possibly a Daimyo or feudal warlord. The female figurine, dressed in her kimono, is most likely to be his wife. These pieces were acquired recently at an estate sale of a wealthy collector of fine pieces of art. They were purchased 35 years ago by the former owner. The exact age of the pieces is not known. They are unsigned, but the pieces speak for themselves. The male figure shows some signs of oxidation where the elbows arms meet the body and also at the right shoulder (please see photos). The oxidation has not been removed because some collectors may prefer the look of the vintage patina. The female figure shows almost no signs of oxidation. They would make a superb addition to any oriental collection.
