These vintage ceramic pieces belong to the Cannes pattern produced by Midwinter Pottery of Burslem, England, designed in 1954 by the British architect and artist Sir Hugh Casson. The set features hand-tinted sketch-style scenes inspired by the French Riviera, including café terraces, harbors, fishing boats, and archway views, developed from Casson’s earlier Riviera concept. Made in the distinctive Fashion shape with rounded edges and slightly squared corners, these vintage pieces were widely produced and popular during the 1950s and 1960s.
