Description:
This is a vintage hand-carved Marwari horse figurine, crafted in the traditional folk-art style of India, most likely originating from the Rajasthan region. The sculpture is typically made from solid hardwood such as mango wood or mahogany, and is richly decorated with brass or copper fittings, sometimes including bone inlay details. It represents the Marwari horse, a rare and culturally significant breed known for its distinctive inward-curving ears. Many examples feature ornamental detailing such as engraved metal plates, floral or heart-shaped motifs, and a decorative chain-style rein. While commonly produced as mid-20th-century (c. 1940–1970) vintage reproductions, the design is rooted in much older regional artistic traditions.
