Description:
This is a traditional Tibetan scroll holder used to store and transport sacred Buddhist manuscripts, prayers, or religious texts. It is typically handcrafted from copper, brass, or silver in a cylindrical tube form with a removable cap, often attached to a small chain to prevent loss. The surface is usually decorated with engraved Buddhist symbols and mantras such as Om Mani Padme Hum. In addition to religious use, similar containers were also used for carrying messages or storing incense sticks. This type of holder dates back to the medieval period (around the 12th–15th centuries), became widely used between the 17th and 20th centuries, and most surviving antique examples today are from the 19th or early 20th century.
