Description:
This is a traditional metal vessel known as an “Aftaba,” a historical ewer used across the Middle East, Central Asia, and South Asia for washing hands and ritual ablution (wudu) before and after meals. It is typically made of copper or a bronze alloy, now covered with a dark aged patina. The vessel features a rounded, heavily decorated body with hand-engraved or embossed patterns, a long-ribbed neck for a secure grip, and a gracefully curved spout designed for smooth, controlled pouring. It also has a small lid at the top to keep the water clean. The overall design reflects traditional Islamic metal craftsmanship and is likely dated to the 19th or early 20th century.
