This is a Savinelli Capri Root Briar 708 EX Rusticated Lovat, a vintage estate pipe likely produced in the 1970s or 1980s. It features the distinctive pebble-dash rustication characteristic of the Capri series, giving the bowl a coarse, stone-like texture. The EX marking denotes an extra-large size with a generously sized chamber.

The pipe follows the Lovat shape, which includes a longer shank and a saddle-style mouthpiece, providing balance and a comfortable grip. Made from quality briarwood, this piece reflects the traditional design approach of Savinelli pipes crafted during that era. Although the Capri series is no longer in production, it remains notable for its craftsmanship and textured aesthetic typical of Savinelli’s mid-century work. It was part of Mr. Faraj trips to Turkey to Switzerland in September 2025.
