This vintage item is a corn cob pipe made by the Missouri Meerschaum Company, the worlds oldest and largest manufacturer of this type of pipe. The company, located in Washington, Missouri, was founded in 1869 by Henry Tibbe. The name Missouri Meerschaum was coined by Tibbe, who likened his lightweight, porous pipes and their cool smoke to the more expensive meerschaum pipes.
The specific pipe shown features a straight, yellow-colored stem. The brand label on the bottom of the pipe is a circular sticker that was a design used by the company for over 100 years.
