Description:
This is a rare Egyptian tramway pocket watch linked to the early electric tram systems in Cairo and Alexandria. It was manufactured in Switzerland, most likely by Moeris, and issued to tram drivers and conductors to ensure accurate public transport timing. The watch features a white enamel dial with black Arabic numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and the name O. Dusonchet, a Cairo-based Swiss watch distributor. It is powered by a hand-wound mechanical movement with 17 jewels that reduce friction and improve precision and durability. Dating from the late 1930s to early 1950s.
