Balqis is a Bahraini plastic artist born in the Kingdom of Bahrain in 1950. In 1975, she obtained a degree in Arts and Arts History from San Francisco University, USA. She is a member of the National Council for Culture and Arts as well as author of several articles on contemporary art. Since 1976, she has participated in many group exhibitions in Bahrain and Internationally, winning several awards.
Compared to many of her colleagues, she does not see any conflict between the way she draws or paints on the panels and the experimental method that speaks to her advantage. She is a member of (ACWA), the International Council for Women. She participated in the Biennial Exhibition in Baghdad in 1992, the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries in Doha in 1991, Kuwait in 1996, and Sharjah in 1999 and she has won the Palme D Or Award from the Kuwait Biennial.
