Betamovie is the brand name for a range of consumer grade camcorders developed by Sony for the Betamax format. By camcorder is understood a single unit comprising a video camera and a video recorder. Betamovie records analog video on a standard Betamax cassette. A range of models was manufactured for the PAL and NTSC formats. The first model, BMC-100P (PAL) and BMC-110 (NTSC) was released in 1983 making it the first commercial consumer grade camcorder.[2] While only standard beta units were available in PAL, several SuperBeta models were produced for the NTSC format. Due to constructional limitations, the Betamovie has no playback function.[3] It is only capable of recording. This limitation, along with the decline of the Betamax format in the late 1980s, caused Sony to abandon the Betamovie line just a few years after its initial release in favor of its newly developed Video8 format. he Premier PC600 is a 35mm point-and-shoot camera made by Premier of Taiwan. It has a fixed-focus 38 mm f 3.5 lens. Below the lens is a switch which opens or closes the lens and viewfinder covers (it s also the on off switch of the camera). Below the built-in flash is another switch for the flash. A third shifter is the film speed selector to choose between ISO speeds 100 200 (the same switch position), 400 and 1600. Between this selector and the lens is the small window of the CdS meter which presumably has some automatic exposure control function but at least controls the low-light warning signal, a red LED by the viewfinder eyepiece, which lights when the shutter release is half-pressed. The film is advanced automatically after the shutter is released, and rewinds automatically when the end of the film is reached. The power advance is the only way to advance the film thus it s necessary to press the release button on the camera s top twice during loading, after laying in the film cassette and closing the film chamber. There is a window in the film chamber door to show the presence (and type) of film. There is a frame counter window in the top of the camera this resets automatically after the film is rewound and taken out. Above the door are the viewfinder eyepiece together with the flash ready lamp and the red low-light indicator LED which is activated by half-pressing the shutter release. The camera needs two AA batteries, which are loaded in the bottom of the camera. The grip and back of the camera are black in every example seen. The front has been seen in black, as pictured here, silver and red.

A small Kodak logo has been moulded out of the plastic on the bottom right, along with the words Made in England . At the top left is the model name. All models are equipped with a three-element Color Apotar 6,3 27mm lens. Focus is fixed, reaching from 1,2 m to infinite. A slider on the camera’s upside allows to choose the shutter speeds, which are represented by weather symbols, or the 0 (off) position which turns the camera off and also blocks Agfa’s Sensor -style shutter release. The simple viewfinder has frame markings and a hinted close-focus frame marking for parallax compensation. Even compared to the other Agfamatic models, the rigid body is surprisingly compact for having both a winder and exposure meter – almost as small as the fully mechanic earlier models. It measures 113 (L) x 53 (W) x 27 (H) mm and weighs circa 160 g. A flash coupling exists on the right side (seen from behind the camera) for a matching electronic flash unit, which shares a connector with the disposable flip flash system. Flash sync speed is 1 50 sec. Located on the left is a standard tripod mount, pointing sideways, which was normally used for the supplied metal hand strap. The film door of all cameras can be opened if a cover above the viewfinder is shifted to the left. Two AAA (micro) batteries can be inserted if the cover is completely pulled off. An integrated winder advances the film after each exposure and also rewinds it after the last frame. Agfa manufactured the 901 series in their Munich factory in Germany.
